They will begin to develop cognitive and language skills alongside large and fine motor skills. Math, science, and social development will be learned through play. In addition, they will master fine motor skills and begin learning self-help skills. Toddlers will start to learn basic academics such as letter, number, and color recognition, using their words, and holding writing tools. Language, literacy, cognition, Spanish, writing, math, science, art, and social development will become more structured. They will begin to learn more complex academics such as counting to 50, adding, subtracting, the calendar, telling time, writing on lines, detailed art projects, and reading and understanding words. Mr. Alex holds a BS in Biology and a BA in Psychology, and Ms. Alba has 25 years experience working with children of all ages. Their twin daughters, Alesia and Arianna, are themselves proud graduates, and make guest appearances when they’re home from college break. Redwood Heights Daycare is a home-based daycare that has incorporated a preschool curriculum. We offer a full Spanish immersion program that supports academic and play based learning, and we specialize in quality custom care. Pre-COVID, however, was a different story! We believe in exploring the world we live in and learning through experience. Fieldtrips are a great way to support the things we learn in the classroom, not to mention being fun and exciting for the children (and adults). We’ve been seen at our local Jordan Park, San Francisco’s Steinhart Aquarium, the local fire station, SF’s Rainforest Cafe, Children’s Fairyland, and the Oakland Zoo.
